Here’s the pretty quilt block I’m working on and will send on Monday.

It isn’t finished because of some really BIG NEWS…..

quilting tote bag

I was busily quilting away when I found out that in four days, my son, Andrew, and wife, Elisabeth, and grandkids, Lena and August, will be moving to Seattle..this Saturday ! That’s 2200 miles away! :o)

I knew Andrew had gotten the job (Hurrah!)  but thought they weren't moving for two weeks. But that’s when he STARTS. So they had to get their house ready to rent..get packed up..and get an apartment arranged in ..fast!

augy plays

Well…I didn’t sleep at all..last night, and cried a rather big weep when it hit me that my dear kids and grandkids were going to be VERY far away….

And then, of course, I wiped my eyes, and rolled up my sleeves to help them get off.. :o)

Grandma feeds Lena

On the bright side, the grandbabies are sleeping at my house tonight while Ebeth and Andrew work on cleaning up an almost empty house….  I’ll help paint tomorrow…

Lena

And then Dear Hubby will drive with them to help tag team drive up to Seattle. He grew up there and will be showing them around the area and helping them get settled. We have lots of family there, and Elisabeth’s brother from Germany lives in Canada and will be only two hours away! So we  know we are sending the kids off into good hands. :o)  (If they have to move somewhere, at least it's to a town with family there. I'm so happy about that!!)

Little feet

But no more sounds of little feet … sniff..sniff…

Who knows?  Maybe…we will follow them…in a couple of years. I promised Tim I’d let him go home someday..and he has been stuck here in Texas for 23 years now. :o)

August

Praying for a safe journey…and glad my son has a really GREAT job and that my dear DIL Ebeth will be only two hours from her brother.

They are good kids…and quite capable.

Oh Donna, that is good news and melancholy news. Wonderful that your son got the job, but I know how much you will miss them all. Sounds like you have a lot of work to do the next few days. Remember to take some well needed breaks and think of it this way...now you have a reason for some travel time so you can go and see them. HUGS!!!

I pray for God's peace and safety to be with you all.

Maybe a move to Seattle would be good for you - we moved to my husband's hometown in 2003 - he felt God wanted him to start a church here. Our lives changed drastically, but it put my children closer to extended family and has given us a place we feel we're going to stay.
Praying for you! And virtual HUGS<

I feel your pain. My kids all live at least 1000 miles away!

Oh, my heart aches for you to be so far away from your babies!! Our GRAND-sons live less than 10 minutes away...what a blessing!!!

mmmm, yes. We are far away from family too - both of ours are in PA, my sis in Montana, my aunt in Arizona. I know you will miss those little ones. Skype IS wonderful, but not the same ... Who knows, maybe you will get back there too! I'm glad mine flying the nest is a few years from now.... Safe travels to yours ...

I am so excited for them, but know you will miss your grandkiddos terribly. Enjoy these days with them before they move!

I wish you and your son's family good luck! I know how it feels to have family far away! ¡_¡

Congratulations to your winner! She is so lucky! And congratulations to your son on getting a great job and hugs to you for the sad farewell. The problem of moving to be near your son is that you move away from other loved ones! Start tucking away pennies now for plane trips!

Donna, congrats to your winner of OWOH. I'm sure she will love it. Oh Donna, I can feel your heart pangs way over here dear. Be strong, they will be fine and live their lives as best they can. I know you are going to miss them so very much, but like you said, there is Skype and other to be able to stay in close touch with them. At least he has a good job now and remember, there are a lot of people who don't have jobs. My thoughts are with you dear Donna. Take care and God will be with your family every step of the way.

You're right Antmee..I can't be everywhere at once. LoL! I've just gotten used to the sheer joy of having grandchildren nearby. It's harder to have them far away after that. I do have grandchildren in North Carolina and we once flew to Hawaii to see our first grandchild born. Somehow, we manage to get to see them regularly. But it was all so sudden that it just blew me away. I didn't realize it would hit me so hard! I'm feeling better about it now. It's time to watch my chicks fly..I know they will! :o)

Welcome to Comin' Home! If you lived nearby, I'd invite you over to my neck of the woods for a nice long chat and a cup of tea out on the deck. But since we can't do that, I hope you'll stay and look around. I love learning new things and sharing what I learn with friends. Comin' Home is where I share tips from my many projects. Let's have some fun together! XO Donna
