Finding Hidden Splashes of Color

Winterberry Holly next to the patio

When I first went out for a walk around our property the other day, I honestly didn’t think that I would find anything to take a picture of. In fact, so many things were dead or dying, that I decided to do last week’s pictures of my weekly walk in sepia.

dying field daisies

But I was so wrong! In the gray light of a dull winter afternoon, I didn’t realize just how many beautiful splashes of color were hiding amongst the weeds and bushes. I just had to know where to look….I found surprises everywhere!

Here are some day brighteners..just to remind us that spring will come again!

Mystery bush…

And I couldn’t figure out what you call this ornamental bush…Do you know what it is?
You can see more spring flowers on our property here and here.

I’m linking with Cottage Flora Thursday’s Linky party. If you’d like to see more pretty things growing…even in winter..then be sure to drop by. :o)

Luke 12:27 "Consider how the lilies grow.
They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you,
not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

Donna,

You have to become aware of everything that surrounds you...if you are not, then you miss out on the beauty that Our Lord has placed right on your doorstep! :)

Thank you for sharing your walk with me...Maria.

Ms. Donna, your photography skills are great!!! It seems any color in the winter-time just stands out against all the "dead"!!! Must be why the cardinals are so beautiful this time of year!!! :)

My sister, Elizabeth and I were just lamenting the horrible winter weather. It has rained non stop for weeks. The sun came out yesterday and we took all the kids to the park in the late afternoon. The sunset was beautiful, the mountains in the distance were covered in snow and we basked in the fading winter sun. After all that dark, cloudy, rainy weather it is amazing how much we start to appreciate and notice the ( not always to obvious ) beauty that winter has to offer.
