Wildflowers of the Woods and Fields

Our Property 033-3000

The spring rains finally arrived…albeit a little later than usual.....

Our Property 069-3000

The wildflowers that we thought we'd missed, decided to show up after all…

Our Property 058-3000

Arrayed in a most glorious splendor!

Our Property 048-3000

Hubby and I took a walk in the blessedly cooler spring weather…

Our Property 049-3000

brought on by the end of the crazy weather pattern that caused so much rain in the north, and drought all across the south.

Our Property 029-3000

We were beginning to think the rains that are so normal in Southeast Texas would never return!

Our Property 062-3000

I brought my camera along, hoping to find at least a few remaining wildflowers.

Our Property 032-3000

How delighted I was to find a few stunning blossoms left!

Our Property 063-3000

Some of these are so unusual, that I have no idea what they are…

Our Property 070-3000

but I do know that some are typical of our woods…

Our Property 066-3000

I can’t help but think of the description in the book of Matthew describing the lilies of the field…

Our Property 093-3000

Even Solomon in all his splendor…

Our Property 097-3000

was not arrayed like one of these…

Hi Donna,

Your wildflowers just look gorgeous! Those purple hanging bells look like a variety of a bush Clematis. Have a wonderful day!

Donna, what great pictures you take. What kind of camera are you using? How do you get the background to sort of fade the the front come closer? Know what I mean. I need to learn to take photos. Great photos, beautiful flowers, nice walk for you and yours. Take care, hope all is well.

Gloria, I use a little point and click digital camera. Someday maybe we can get an SLR. The trick is simply to focus on something up close so that the rest of what is behind the object blurs.

If I hold up a tea cup in the air with one hand, and focus on it..the rest of the room will be a blur behind it. The same with say, flowers on the table.

The camera tries to focus automatically..so you have to be careful that it focuses on the object you want.

It's amazing what an inexpensive digital camera can do. :o)

Beautiful flowers, my favorites are the gaillardia and the cone flowers. Love the perspective on your last photo.

Hi Donna,

The first, fourth and eighth photo are Gaillardias. The common name is Blanket Flower, so named because the bright colors were reminisent of the blankets made by Native Americans. In some areas they are wildflowers but I grow them in my flower beds. They add color long into the fall. Your first photo looks more like the ones in my yard, they are several varieties.

Your sixth and last photo are coneflowers, or Rudbeckia. It's in the sunflower family.

I am by no means a flower expert it's just that I take a lot of photos of these two flowers and did a little research on them both.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope to see you again. You should join us on Today's Flowers, Macro Flowers Saturday and Flowers on Saturday. The links are on my post. Can you tell I like flowers?

Have a great week,
Judy
