What are You Thankful For? (New Grandbaby Photo!)

That's an easy question for me to answer! Still, I'm glad we have a holiday that reminds us to 'Give Thanks'.  We had a wonderful dinner with some church friends. It's our first time to share Thanksgiving dinner with someone other than family and it really was a special day.

Debbie and I were surprised and delighted to see how well our table decor complimented each other's. I had to use green & white gourds since the stores were all out of orange mini-pumpkins..and the only tapers I could find were burgundy.  I didn't know she had burgandy napkins and green table cloths. Her dishes and goblets were lovely.

Isn't this just perfect? We were both so pleased.

Rebekah suggested we bring the Give Thanks banner in case Debbie might want to hang it. She did. :o) We hung it over the window in the dining room.

We discovered that we both LOVE sharing dinner with another family. It's not only more festive and fun..it's less work!  (You only cook HALF the dishes instead of ALL the dishes.)

The teens enjoyed soaking in the hot tub and cooling off in the pool. Hubby and I and our friends sat around a campfire...thinking how grateful we are that the burn ban is actually over. The football game was great (my sympathies to all you Aggie fans)...and so was the turkey, ham, and pumpkin and pecan pies.   Rebekah brought chocolate chip cookies (requested by the boys' buddies').

We especially enjoyed touring the Sears' home. (Remember when we helped a friend move in and scrub grout etc? It was in the hallway pictured above.)     Debbie's hubby is a DIY guy too so it was fun seeing his handiwork. I was impressed!

But the part that was most special was when Larry prayed before dinner. His 'thankful list' was short--"Thank you Lord for sparing my wife". Debbie, who is my age, has just recovered from chemo this year. It was a long hard journey. We are all thankful for her renewed health!

Our gratitude centered around two things--first, that Matthew, my marine son, made it safely home from Afghanistan. Sadly, his best friend did not. How my heart goes out to his parents!

We are so grateful too, that my DIL, Elisabeth and baby Lillie, had a safe delivery.  Isn't she beautiful? Lillie Sophie was born on 11-11-11.  Andrew, my son, is holding her in this photo.

We also didn't lose our home to a wildfire. We can't help being grateful for that!   Jacob's MRI for the brain anomaly came out perfectly clear and he got a clean bill of health. That's wonderful news too.

Our list is much longer than this..but these were the biggest concerns we faced this year.

We have so many blessings! A son graduated, a daughter is buying her first car next week, I lost 13 pounds, and hubby has found a medication to control the migraines that have been plaguing him for several years now. One son lost his job and got a new one in the same week!

Our family are all safe and sound. You can't ask for much more than that can you?

It isn't that we all haven't had our share of trials. There have been some disappointments and hardships for our family this year.

Still, the more trials you've faced, the more important it is to remember the answers to prayer you've rejoiced in as well.  There's a reason we are told to 'count our blessings'.

What have been your biggest blessings this year?

Sweet new baby. Love his birth date. You sure do have alot to be thankful for. I didn't know all that was going on. Glad your son is home and so sorry about his family. Could you share what medication your husband is on since I suffer from those crazy meds.
The table looks beautiful. Those colors together are stunning.
I hope you have a wonderful week-end.
