An Amaryllis Blooming

I’ve been saving up this photo project as a special treat for all of you, my Dear Readers! Ever since Dec. 23rd, when my DH gave me this amaryllis plant, I’ve been taking a photo every day. Rebekah, my daughter , was just telling me this morning how tired she was getting of the drab winter skies..and how it made everything outside look dull and gray. I have to say, she was right!

            Day 1
Day 1 and 2

So we took some of my advice about beating the winter blues and cranked up..not the beach boys..but some rousing new country pop. It's not that sad stuff..but much more upbeat and family friendly (at least during the day).

Day 4 and 5

I took away the old dried flowers from the table and planted my bright red amaryllis right smack dab in the middle of the table.

  Day 8

Day 9
Then, since I was getting lunch ready for DH and his co-worker, I added the bowl of fruit..and orange carrots..etc.

Day 10 (2)

Day 10

I love bulbs better than any flower I know.
They are so cheerful, fresh, and full of the promise of Spring..

Day 10 (1)

Day 11

and the next thing you know, we are all dancing and singing all through the living room and kitchen!! (No photos--thank you!)

   Day 15

final day

Day 18 and still blooming…

No more winter blues at our house today!
Hope my flowers will brighten your day too. :o)  Have a happy, cheerful,  lovely winter day!

While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
And cold and heat,
And summer and winter,
And day and night
Shall not cease.

I'm glad you like it, everyone. It's made our home a lot brighter. I don't know I didn't buy three or four! Ha!

Donna, that is beautiful! Thanks for letting us in on this!! I'm not sure if I ever even looked at some of mine every day, so this was a reminder to appreciate them more next time!

Good Morning Donna,
What an amazing color on your amaryllis! So cheery on a wintry day...of course, your winters are a bit different than ours...but still, flowers cheer us up no matter where we live! I can just see you all dancing around the room...too bad you didn't snap a picture!

Have a blessed weekend,
Laura

What a fun post to see the progress of a bulb flowering! Very cool. Thanks so much Donna for your comments on my posts the last couple days (I'm starting to wonder if I ever should have posted it, truly).
You are so great!

This was so sweet.

Donna-my email address is

I would love your explanation of the buttons-I am learning as I go. My computer expert for doing is my oldest daughter in Calif. My fix computer is here in Concho Valley. So am on phone a lot to figure out-but she is a stay at home mom with a 4 year old. My other daughter is a stay at home too as well as my Daughter in law. We all love being at home and enjoying our husbands, kids, grandkids, and even keeping house!

I am having problems with my computer-my piece for it is here-but must wait on my son to fix next week-end. So will work on buttons after.

Oh, Donna, that's beautiful. Every year I think I'll buy myself an amaryllis...and it doesn't happen. When I see them next CHRIST-mas...I'm gonna have to purchase one!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
